⚡ About CalForge
Your free, no-hassle calculator toolkit — built for everyday people.
What is CalForge?
CalForge is a free collection of 61+ online calculators and tools built for everyday people. Whether you're working out your mortgage repayments, converting units, tracking calories, splitting a restaurant bill, or planning for retirement — CalForge has a tool for it.
We built CalForge because too many calculator sites are cluttered, slow, require sign-ups, or are buried under ads before you even see the tool. CalForge is different: the calculator loads first. Always. No account, no pop-ups, no spam.
What Makes CalForge Different
Most calculator sites are built to trap you — make you create an account, show you ads before the tool, or upsell you to a "premium" version to unlock basic features. CalForge is built to help you. Every tool is available immediately, on any device, at no cost. We support the site through standard display advertising that appears after the tool — not before it.
Every calculator on CalForge is also explained. We don't just show you a number — we tell you what the number means, how it was calculated, and how to use it. A BMI result is more useful when you understand both what BMI measures and where it falls short. A loan payment is more meaningful when you can see how changing the loan term changes the total interest cost. We write content that treats you as an intelligent adult who wants to understand, not just calculate.
Our Editorial Process
Every calculator on CalForge is built and written by the same small team that maintains the site — content isn't outsourced to writers who've never used the tools. Formulas are sourced from established, publicly documented standards: WHO guidelines for health metrics like BMI and BMR, standard amortization math for mortgage and loan calculators, and widely accepted financial formulas — compound interest, ROI, break-even — that you'd find in any finance textbook.
Before a calculator goes live, we manually test it against known reference values. For example, we check the mortgage calculator's output against a bank's published amortization table, and the BMI calculator against the WHO's own reference ranges. Where a formula has genuine debate around it, like BMI's well-documented limitations, the accompanying article says so directly instead of presenting one number as absolute truth.
The context in our guides — which caveats matter, which edge cases trip people up — comes from actually running our own numbers through these tools for budgeting, fitness tracking, and planning, not from describing the math in the abstract.
Accuracy & Corrections
If a result looks wrong, or a formula doesn't match your own reference, let us know — include the calculator name and the numbers you entered. We investigate every report and correct any confirmed error, usually within a few days. Articles list a "last updated" date so you can see how current the information is.
Who Uses CalForge?
CalForge is designed for everyday people across all walks of life. Students use the unit converters and time calculators for homework and exam preparation. Freelancers and small business owners use the finance tools to price their work, understand their margins, and plan their cash flow. Fitness enthusiasts use the BMI, BMR, calorie, and body fat calculators to track their health goals. Homeowners use the tile, paint, and solar savings calculators to plan and budget renovations. Travellers use the currency converter and fuel cost calculator to plan trips accurately.
The site is popular — you'll notice that many tools default to USD and reference local context like Eskom tariffs, tax brackets, and local tipping customs. But CalForge supports a full range of currencies and is designed for international use too.
Our Calculators
CalForge currently offers 61+ tools across six categories: Finance (27 tools including mortgage, loan, compound interest, VAT, salary, and retirement calculators), Health (8 tools including BMI, BMR, calorie, and body fat calculators), Time and Productivity (9 tools including study timer, Pomodoro, and date calculators), Converters (10 tools for unit, weight, temperature, and measurement conversions), Performance and Fitness (2 tools including speed and pace calculators), and Home and Utility (5 tools including paint, tile, electricity, internet speed, and solar savings calculators).
We add new tools regularly based on user requests and gaps we identify in what's available. If you need a calculator we don't have yet, let us know and we'll consider building it.
About This Site
CalForge is a static website — pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No server-side processing, no database, no user tracking. This means it loads fast, works offline for most tools, and poses no privacy risk for the calculations you perform. Your financial or health information never leaves your browser.
The site is hosted on Netlify's global CDN, which ensures fast load times worldwide. The only external service we use is ExchangeRate-API for live currency exchange rates on the currency converter.
If you find a bug, a calculation that seems incorrect, or a tool that isn't working as expected, please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate and fix any reported issues promptly.
